HOUSE H _ Ashiya

This house is located on a small hill at the foot of Mt. Rokko.
The main theme was how to incorporate the overwhelming view, which opens up to the east towards Osaka, into the interior of the house.
Although both the husband and wife are extremely busy with their daily work as doctors in private practice, they wanted a living space where they could relax and take a break, while still respecting each other's hobbies (cars and music) and lifestyles.
In terms of form, two unique volumes have been adopted, and the design has been designed to ensure high security by making the openings almost invisible from the roadside.
The second floor is given a large arc-shaped volume with a parapet and a sloped roof that rises in a loose spiral shape, while the first floor, which serves as the base, is a contrasting rectangular box in which the dining room and other rooms are housed.
The living room on the second floor, which is the heart of the house, has a large opening on the east side, ensuring views into the distance.
When you open the fully-opening window, a living space is created where you feel as if you are one with the scenery, even while staying inside.
It is also a relaxing room that marks the passage of time and the seasons with the ever-changing light that shines into the interior from the small courtyard and skylights.
